Scotland beats France (a non-politics oriented post)

– Liz Mair

Usually, I use this blog to comment on political goings-on. But, occasionally, I deviate into football/soccer-- and today is one of those days.

Last night, in the Euro 2008 qualifier, Scotland beat France 1-0, thanks to a goal by James McFadden.

I cannot overstate the importance of this. Scotland now sit at the top of their qualifying group, though admittedly, we do have a few tough games still in front of us. Nonetheless, last night was a great night-- and one that makes it look like Scottish football/soccer is on its way back (note: since one of my relatives once played for Scotland, this is a particularly important thing for me).
